Some Achievements

Downtown Cellphone Improvements

The downtown district saw significant improvements in cellphone coverage and signal strength. This allows visitors and local residents to better enjoy our downtown stores and restaurants.

Tougher Standards For Vacant Properties

To deal with growing concerns related to vacant properties and property maintenance, council strengthened the minimum standards and penalties under the Property Standards and Clean Yards By-Law.

Quaker Hill Picnic

Over 400 residents came out to enjoy a free BBQ, bouncy castle, snow plow painting, fire trucks, police cruisers, EMS, and free massages. The theme was safety and we even had a visit from Elmer the Safety Elephant!

Old Town Hall Enhancements

The town customer service desk expanded to the OTH, to better help serve residents with their municipal needs. We also added directional signs, bicycle racks, and free wifi

Electronic Speed Boards

Traffic mitigation has been one of my key priorities. Increased tools and tactics will continue to be added as part of the town' s "Safety Driven" traffic management campaign.

Lion's Park Transformation

This great new playground now has a wonderful boardwalk and natural low impact drainage technology. This park is an important green space in Ward 5 and it is now better than ever.

My 2018-2022 Council Term Priorities

Safe and Livable Neighbourhoods

Traffic mitigation will continue to be one of my key priorities. I am committed to making our streets safer for our children, seniors, and families.

Quaker Hill

The Quaker Hill neighbourhood deserves more investment. I will build on the successes to date and I will continue to work to enhance the Quaker Hill Community further.

Clock Tower

I am very proud of the success in negotiating the Clock Tower development agreement, and will continue to work to maintain the heritage and character of  our Historic District. This is a true Win-Win for the community and the developer.

Taxes

I will continue to ensure your priorities are reflected in the Town's budget. I will find savings and mitigate tax increases to ensure residents maximum return for their hard earned money.

Working Closely With YRP

Together with concerned community members, I have been working very closely with YRP and they have been very responsive with our concerns such as speeding, safety, and crime prevention.

Welcoming Business

Celestica is moving to Newmarket because it is a community with the character and charm of a small town with the conveniences of a city. I understand the importance of economic development.
